I saw a "Terriost Hunting Permit" on a Ford Expidition. I saw that as very hypocritical, because every time they filled the tank $$$ went right over to Iran. Are our children really dying for 15mpg??

I believe the one that could have made the car manufacturer's follow emissions guidlines is just as much a terrorist as the people that buy them, of course you and I would have to be put in that category too unless you walk everywhere you go and don't take public transportation because everything that we drive or ride in uses gas even though it might not be specifically from Iran you never can tell can you. Our government needs to get into gear and look for an alternative to relying on foreign oil because as long as we have to depend of them we will always be funding fundamentalist groups that want to see the American Empire fall.

Your point is well taken, but, unfortunately it paints all SUV drivers with the same brush.
I live in a state where we have pretty rough winters and the driving gets real nasty at times. I am an independent contractor that used to own a van - which was nothing less than treacherous on icy or snow covered roads.
Although it is not nearly as convenient as a van, I now drive an Explorer that's loaded with materials and equipment. If I could drive and work with a smaller, more efficient vehicle, I would do so in a minute - it simply makes economic sense.
However, I, too, wonder why a person thinks they need a four ton behemoth to commute back and forth to work. I'm sure their intention isn't to support terrorists - most of them I see have the "support our troop" and "American Flag" stickers on the rear. Go figure........
