While the age you get your period generally does have something to do with when your mother first got hers it isn't a definite indication. Yes many females do start their periods early then 15 but then again some don't until later. It involves a lot of factors and doesn't necessarily mean your infertile or that there's something wrong with you. If you're really worried speak to someone about it but only if you feel comfortable doing so.

There is no specific age when a woman is supposed to start her period. Low body fat is a possible cause. In fact, I am quite worried about that. Do you have an eating disorder? Do you exercise compulsively? You might want to get yourself checked out by a psychologist.
Anyway, if you are concerned then you can go to your doctor and have a physical exam, but chances are that it'll just happen when it happens. I started later than my Mom too.

Age of Menarche
Menarche usually occurs about two years after your breasts develop (thelarche) and between 4 and 6 months after the growth of your pubic and underarm hair. The age of menarche in most North American women is around 12 or 13, though your first period can come anytime between 9 and 16, depending upon your height, weight, and cultural background. Early menarche is occurring more and more - girls as young as 8 have been known to get their periods. This is referred to as premature menarche. Girls who haven’t gotten their period by the age of 16 are described as experiencing primary amenorrhea. Sometimes external factors or complications may prevent your period from arriving when it should.
Certain factors are thought to affect the age of menarche. Cultural and genetic factors play an important role in determining how fast your body will develop. Girls from different races all seem to develop at a slightly different rate. You may notice that some of your friends have already gotten their periods and you haven’t. You may even be wondering if something’s gone wrong with you. Rest assured, every girl develops at a different pace.
If you haven’t gone through menarche by the time you are 15 or 16, though, you should make an appointment with your doctor to determine if there are any underlying problems. Many girls who are underweight or undernourished will not get their periods. It is generally thought that a certain weight (around 100 pounds) must be attained in order for your brain to send signals to your body to start menstruating.

Don't worry about it. Everyone is different. My mom started when she was 14, my sister when she was 16 and I didn't start until I was 18.

You do not need to be overly concerned. A teenage girl's body is full of hormones, yours just haven't engaged into the full drive for womanhood just yet. It'll come, don't worry.
If you have concerns, ask your family doctor, and see the source html for more information. Note the first cause: "Normal adolescents - some girls start menstruating later than others">

what is normal for everyone else, may not be for you. everyone matures at a different rate. my wife started her periods when she was 7. her sister was 8. you are correct, no body fat means no periods and slow sexual maturation. why is it that you have no bodyfat...by choice? you may want to read the article that I linked to you below to answer a few more of your questions...
stop worrying...but a trip to your doctor may help ease your concerns

Everyone has a different cycle. I am underweight still. In my teen years, I was underweight by 5-8lbs. I got my period when I was 16.
