You will get a greenish precipitate of copper carbonate, which is definitely a chemical change - a new substance has been formed.

CuSO4+ Na2CO3---> CuCO3+ Na2SO4

If you mix them dry, little will happen and that will be a physical reaction. If they are in solution they will react and form a green precipitate, this is a chemical change. They do need to react in solution, however.

You can tell a chemiical change if there is a color change or a precipitate formed or a gas formed.
