S(s) + O2(g)------>SO2

2Mg(s) + O2(g) -------> 2MgO(s)

H2(g) + Br2 (g) -------> 2HBr(g)

4Fe(s) + 3O2 -------> 2Fe2O3 (s)

Then there are single replacement

A + BC-------> AC + B
Zn(s) + 2HCl(aq)------->ZnCl2 (aq) + H2 (g)
where one element replaces another

then there is double replacement

AB+CD -------> AD + BC

In this one the positive ions in the reacting compounds switch places

BaCl2 (aq) + Na2So4 (aq) --------.BaSo4 (s) + 2NaCl (aq)
