When my kids were younger, they got a LOT of presents from Santa - they would be allowed to ask for one big and one small present, and anything else they got was a bonus.
The other presents would be little toys from the pound shop or Christmas sweets, as well as things like bath stuff and hair accessories. They would always get books and things like jigsaw puzzles as well.
None of these things were expensive, could be picked up at various stages during the year, but always created a huge amount of excitement and mystery.
This year I have one child who has asked for a Wii, and the other two want upgrades on their mobile phones. That's about it.
The Wii will be more in the way of a family present, and I still make a point of buying books as well.
Then at the last minute, I'll probably splurge out on a heap of stuff for everyone, because that's usually what I do!
Happy Christmas!

On our kid I will be honest I probably spend too much, this year we just had a new baby so the budget is a little tight so on the two kids I will probably spend $100.00-$150.00 on each. Some people might say thats ridiculous and others may say thats all, but I have a two year old and a 6 week old, to me it seems like a fair amount.

Varies - depends on the age and interests. I have found a Nintendo DS to be very expensive so the rest of the gifts for that child are minimal - and I took off a toy from the Santa list when I found out that cost another £80! It's not a case of being mean with money - it's a case of bringing my children up to appreciate the value of the presents they get and to be thankful for what they do get. They are limited to ask for 4 things from Santa and they know it's a list of hopes, not demands.

Have 1 son who's 2 and a half, when I keep asking ifhe wants some toys from Santa, he keeps saying "No thanks, I've got enough!!"
If only this would last, I've decided to spend £100 on him plus a nice outfit and of course new pyjamas for Christmas Eve. This doesn't look much the price of things, but he'll get loads of other stuff and i'll only complain when there's stuff all over by the New Year!!:0)

I probably spend far too much but £200 each then I do a santa sack with pens and colouring books from the £1 shop in them etc....
When I met my partner he used to spend £500 each, but I soon reduced that cause I thought that was a silly amount.....
The older they get the more expensive the presents they choose ie .....Psp, Ipods etc

properly, what I spend on my childrens is plenty distinctive than what I spend altogether. i think of we normally happening $1500 to $1800 ALL jointly- with the family individuals we purchase for. Then approximately $a hundred on presents for instructors/my childrens acquaintances and donation toys. yet- I also have a particular low-priced rates account set up, which I upload to throughout the time of the three hundred and sixty 5 days, purely for Christmas. I not often ever spend each and each bit it particularly is in it. even though is leftover gets added to our extensive-unfold low-priced rates and then I start up throughout. IF i did no longer save all 3 hundred and sixty 5 days- I have not any clue how different human beings drop hundreds. which would be no longer common to do with the way I budget month-to-month funds.

I spent $250 on each child ($500). Christmas is mostly for kids so let them enjoy it. Each year sometimes we have to budget a bit more as the older the kids get the more expensive their Christmas list LOL

I spend far, far too much, and I know it. I just have the one child, and he is spoilt rotten.
Having said that, I do think it's a shame that kids get so much these days. When I was little I got about 3 "main" presents, a few annuals and some stocking fillers - and I was always delighted.

Well you shouldn't spend hundreds you should have them write a christmas list and make then put the toy they want the most on top and then just buy them one more toy if the 1st one is expensive. If the 1st one isn't expensive then get then 1 er 2 more toys. Just set a limit that won't break the piggy bank if ya know what i mean. Good Luck!Happy Holidays

I don't have kids yet, but I will probably spend what my parents spent on me - about £50 per child. My parents always spent much less than my friends parents, but we went on more holidays, had sky and the internet. I prefered having a general high standard of living and not splashing out on just birthdays and christmas.
