Handle it every day for a few minutes at a time until it gets used to you. Feed it some of its food by hand, and it will soon associate you with good things. They are beautiful creatures, I used to keep them when I was a a kid....;

Yes, It is a must to handle your hampster daily. Always approach it slowly and when it is wide awake. Also be sure your hands are clean, if they smell any food on your hands it may mistake you for food and bite.

Pick it up every day. Otherwise they get skiddish & might end up biting when they get older.
