Yes, but it's a bit cheap to hold your pay over till the Monday just because pay day falls on a Sunday. If you had been one of my employees I would have seen to it that you got paid on the Friday if pay day fell at the weekends.

I believe that you are being paid a monthly salary and that it is by a concession that you are paid in advance of the last day of the month. Your employer is not therefore withholding payment. On the contrary, he is being particularly helpful most of the time by making payment several days early!

If you're in the United Kingdom the answer is NO unless you agree to it. However, is it worth fighting for? Because if your employer like's it that way then you would probably be in for a fight to get it changed. This would also probably lead to your employer finding a way to sack you. So bear in mind that it's not that big a deal.

It is 'reasonable' for your employer to hold it another day as they cannot pay on a Sunday (obviously). Thats how the courts would see it.

I think it is illigal. The employer should hand over your pay cheque ( the rules states that he should hand it over, and not you asking for it ) at the last working day of the month / week. Simple.

its not down to your employer its down to the archaic banking system that we have in this country which only allows BACS payments to be made on working days. sucks huh?
