anyone recommend any good pubs round the victoria end of london as we need to pass time before our bus at 11pm

There is a gay bar called the Stag. It's not exclusively gay so as the drinks are dirt cheap, you might enjoy it. If you need something more traditional and without characters, there are plenty of chain pubs and bars such as whetherspoon etc etc
