I've read so many conflicting things about this. Has anyone had any experience using one later in the day? Any one that can help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I was three or four days late, and got a possitive result within .5 seconds of peeing on the stick at 6:30 pm.

Your morning urine is the most concentrated, and women who have low hormone levels have better luck with first morning urine.

But you can test anytime of day, if the hormone is present in the urine, the test will pick it up.

The only tests you want to take at a certain time, are ovulation tests. Since the hormone responsible for ovulation is manufactured through the day its not present in high enough quantities until afternoon.

If you're testing before your period is due, then definitely. The first morning uring has the highest concentration of the necessary hormone because it is less diluted. If you are days or weeks past the expect arrival of your period, then testing at any time of day should give you an accurate result. I would still recommend "holding it" for at least a few hours before testing.

Sometimes women will have a better/stronger result (positive) using SMU, or second morning urine. If for instance you get what could be a faint positive with your FMU (first morning urine), try waiting a few hours and testing again. If the results are the same, wait a couple of days and try again if your period is still late.

its best if you use it in the morning. That way it hasn't been dialuted by fluid which would make it harder to pick up the hormone it's lookig for, especially if your only a few days late or are using one of those tests that are supposed to tell you a few days before your missed period.

it used to be that you had to use the morning first urine because of the level of the test. as testing becomes more advanced, as it is now, you can use it any time of the day.
