They don't Hear like us per-say, they pick up vibrations in the water...that is why you aren't suppose to tap on the glass of an aquarium.
So to answer the question, Yes they do hear...they only hear in low tones.

I wouldn't think they can actually hear, in the way you're asking, but they sense things through vibrations in their water, just like a dolphin or shark would, I would imagine.

not like how we hear... have you ever noticed dots that form a line down its body? i think that's called a lateral line. It's full of nerves that feels water pressure and vibrations.
dolphins can actually hear like us btw.
