Well, Elaine if you need more information I am using the internet at a friends house. Which as a matter of fact I just posted my resume to monsters.com. Thanks alot for making me feel like I am a bad mother. I only use this site because it answered questions when I needed them. You should really ask questions first before giving a stupid remark.

Wow. i am so sorry to hear about you being out of work. I know its easy for me to say, but you will bounce back and find something else. It is the company's loss and another company will be glad to have you. Have you tried some Temporary agencies for work? Sometimes they have connections to companies that hire on a temp to perm basis. That is what happened to me after a bad situation with another job 7 years ago.
As for your son, do you have a local church that you attend or in your neighborhood? A lot of times, they will do something for needy children and some will ask what does he want, and make a collection to get it for him. Also, do you have family that can help you out? Maybe friends that can help? You are probably in a panicked state right now and probably dont realize how many people will be willing to come to your aid once they know you need help for right now. Also, If you can, file for unemployment in the meantime while you are looking for your next job. Good Luck:) and I will be praying for you!

You should try http://www.treasuretrooper.com/195006
You get paid doing offers then when you have enough money;there is an offer where you make a bid on ebay and get paid 5.00 you can buy his present!(ebay sells cheap items)! Or you can just go the the section that says get paid to shop were you can shop for his gift and get a percentage of the money back.
P.S.You can buy 100 coupons for $1 at ebay too. Good Luck. Hope This Helps.

Losing your job is not your fault. Don't let it beat you up emotionally. Things always have a way of working out. You should worry about paying rent and utilities and buying food before you worry about gifts for the son, although I understand your situation. Contact your local United Way Agencies. Ask a local church or local business if they would be able to help you and your family during this difficult time. It's tax deductible to them and after all "tis the season." Don't be embarrassed or afraid to ask for help if you need it. Talk to your family and friends. They will understand. Grab any job you can right now... there's nothing beneath you. Have faith... in God and yourself.

1. I know this will be hard, but you need to stop worrying about presents right now, and start working on getting a new job.
2. Little kids deserve more credit than we give them. If you are honestly doing your best, he will understand that Mommy still loves him even if she can't get him the latest Xbox this Christmas. Simple gifts that are handmaid or that include time or activities will make great substitutes.
3. There are job resources available to you. Check your state's website and some of the following:

Go to your local Department of Social Services and request assistance you may qualify for in every area, including Food Stamps, based on your current lack of income.
Explain your situation and there should be agencies ready to assist during this holiday season that work with DSS to provide for children at Christmastime. Some of these agencies do UnTrim A Tree and Angel Tree projects and some provide food baskets or use Salvation Army giftgiving projects to provide for community children.
There might also be churches who are doing projects to help families at Christmastime so if you're affiliated with a church (or even if you're not!) try those possibilities as well.
I'm happy to help you find something in your area if you offlist me with a city/state or county where you are located and you aren't sure how to find services in your area.

Contact different service agencies like the Salvation Army and let them know your situation. A five year old has an easier time as their presents are usually a little less expensive.
One advantage you do have is that retail stores will be hiring and you may get an employee discount. Just know that kids are resilient and can accept more than we think they can.
Good Luck!

You can check into having his name added to your local Toys For Tots Charity. You would probably have to call a goverment office such as the local Family Independance Agency (welfare office). Also check out http://www.freecycle.org Search for your state/ county and you can request items, any item. If your not aware of how freecycle works, i can explain. Freecycle is a community based program that you can offer and request items. Say you offer a item and someone asks for it. It is their job to come and pick up the item at your location and day you choose and vise versa. Everything on Freecycle must be FREE. Check it out. You can request toys and will probably get a good response as alot of people throw out old ones to make way for the new. Good Luck and i hope i helped you. =)

Make something for him or tell him that you lost your job and can't buy gifts. Tell him that you and he are going to have a special day instead and spend all day doing fun things together. Play ball, go to the park, etc. This will be a special gift just for him an no one else.

You lost your job and you don't even know if you have enough money to buy him a christmas gift or put food on the table and yet you have enough money to be on the internet? Wow. I don't know how to answer. Lots of luck to ya.
Wow I got a thumbs down I guess some ppl CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT the internet.

I will admit to my mistake and say that I apologize for that only because your story didn't make sense to me and most of the questions I come across are posted by ppl making stuff up. I usually don't answer questions like this because I'm never sure if they are real. If I made you feel like a bad mother I apologize but you shouldn't care what ppl online think.
