Stay away from heat for a while. Ice is good. The severity of the strain will dictate when a mild stretch will be appropriate. Do you have any discoloration on the back of your leg (that may bleed down into the lower leg)? If not, it's probably not that bad. Ease yourself back into streching, letting pain/discomfort be your guide. Avoid explosive movements that include knee extension till you feel better. When you are well get on a hamstring strengthening program to protect yourself from future strains.

NO!!

You ripped the tendons partially loose and you should let them HEAL! They will not do so, if you constantly aggravate the condition...

Rest and relaxation as well as hot and cold packs and hot soaks will help...
