At our 12 month appointment, our doctor told us regular whole milk was just fine for the baby-that there was no need for the Next Step formula. The regular whole milk helps their brain develop, so they say give them that until age 2.

If you have been using Enfamil and they are only one i suggest keep using it just the next step like you are considering but then casually use 2% milk warmed and they eventually wont know the difference, yes milk is cheaper but the Enfamil has the vitamins and nutrients your baby needs i used the one that helps aid inbrain and eye develpoment. Use it untill atleast they get the hang of milk first!

We switched to regular milk the doctor said that that was just fine but we still carry bottles of water and enfamil next step in the diaper bag so we dont have to worry about keeping milk cold or heating up bottles. My doctor said that they were both good its all abput prefrence. Hope this was helpful.

After 3 children I think that I can answer your question. My pediatrician and the health department in my county all suggest using whole milk at 1 years of age. As well as taking them off of the bottle and on a sippy cup. I think that if your child is regularly eating meals and is getting enough nutrients you may be doing a huge disfavor to your child such as leaving them suseptible to unnecessary weight gain from too much food. I recommend using whole milk on your little one and continue following your pediatrician's recommendations if all else fails. They are trained to know what is best.

Ask the pediatrician, but I think most would recommend whole milk over those "toddler" formulas. My son is 10 months old, and we will be switching to regular whole milk at 12 months old.

The Enfimail is a lot more $$$$ you can give you child whole milk till your doctor says its OK to take him/her off (whole milk has all the fat in it that is good for you child ...my daughter is still drinking whole milk and she is 2 years old)

As long as their diet is balanced with everything, then milk should be fine, plus if you want you can give pediasure occasionally to be sure the nutrients are getting in to him/her.

you wean them to whole milk and keep them on whole milk until they are about 2. if you decide to switch to 2% or skim after that, it is ok.
