first of all, act in any roles to gain experience-even if its a local youth theater group. Then, look on-line for nearby agents. One thing that i have found helpful, is ready an actor prepares by stanivlaski (i apologise if its spelt wrong). physical fitness is needed, as well as persistence. Also, it is worth deciding now, before you commit yourself, as to whether it is fame you want, or whether you'd be happy with fame, as long as you were acting. break a leg!!!

I don't think you got any responses from a professional actor, until now. Most of the stories you hear about people being "discovered" at the mall and the like are made up. Everyone dreams of doing this but there is a harsh reality to it. It's very, very hard to do. It's not luck and/or who you know, it's years and years of very hard work. A few years ago a cable channel wanted to do a special on overnight hollywood success stories. They didn't find any. Just because you've never heard of someone until they're famous doesn't mean they weren't at it for years. Believe me, they were. Act as often as you can. If you find that you're still in it for the love of the craft instead of the money and fame, you're half way there. Then you don't mind the struggle.

Ok first just think about how awesome it is to atleast say a line in your school production.
well to become a good actress you need a good teacher. so just take acting classes at the highschool. Practice infront of your mirror it is a great way to improve yourself. Just work hard at all the areas. Eventually you could be good enough to get leads in your school productions if you stick to it.
if you still wish to be an actress once you graduate you could take an acting course in college. There are many colleges that offer many great things in the performing arts.
Just look at your possibilites. I for one also live in a small town. But i live very close to Kansas City so i can take acting classes and participate in community theatre. Do you live reasonably close to a city? If not do what i said work at the local highschool. Do what seems right and don't let it hold you back.
Please understand that acting isn't for everyone. 95% of actors are out of work. So make sure you have a back up plan.
Remember to have fun and try your best.
Break-a-leg! :-P

Get a video camera, write a short movie for you to act in and post it on YouTube, that way people will be alerted to your talents.
You can't be "unsure" if you have what it takes. Acting is a competitive field, and you have to "know" you have what it takes.
Directors look for people who have an intangible quality of being able to "walk into a room and be the character"

OK, first you need to calm yourself.
Then you need to sit down and think
Explore the character and believe you really know her
Then practice, try different things with voices and emotions
Then you need to believe that you can do it
if you are working hard enough for it, it means you are ready to try
