Yes it seems to be very similar, didnt think it was anything special....as i recall there were some boys in my school PE lesson too though.

Baseball is a highly skilful game, with deep tactical nuances and almost as many if not more statistics than cricket. During the season players play a game lasting 3 or more hours pretty much every day, notching up 150+ games a season. There are high speed collisions on the diamond, and occasional 18 man-brawls. Not to mention exciting and acrobat feats of catching and throwing, as well as the immense skill involved in hitting a dipping swerving ball thrown at 95 mph.
If you learn the rules and put some time and effort into watching it you'll realise it's one of the great sports of the world.

Yes, in the same way that American Football is just Rugby.
Of course, we don't wear the protective equipment, but there's a major debate at the moment about rule changes to reduce the risk of injury, so it could happen...
A lot of the changes that happened to these sports since they 'crossed the pond' are aimed at making them look more interesting on television, and more suitable for TV ad breaks.
The main excitement in Baseball recently seems to have been the controversy (a bit like our gentle griping about footballers) over the incredible amounts of money paid to the players.

Netball and basket ball are similar too. Those yanks cant even make their own games up the no brained whatsits.
Perhaps the yanks would enjoy the games even more if the blokes that played them wore dresses?????NOW there's an idea.

Baseball is called "silly boys rounders". According to Derek Trotter, before he realised it was a game people like him and Steven enjoy (yuppies).

Because, when the Americans first gained independence they had to invent their own sport so people would take them seriously. All the great nations at that time had their own national sports\games........so the Americans thought, "What can we do?, I know lets make a variation of rounders".
Voila!
Thats my belief anyway.......
