How do you people enjoy yourself when going clubbing? I really don't get it. Clubbing is something I don't understand. But I'm too curious to just let go and forget about it.
I can see there's obviously a lot of fun to be had - but I find myself unable to get excited at all.
Could it just be self-awareness or anxiety or what? Yes I'm a bit shy but not that much. There must be more to it.
Many people tell me 'if it's not your thing, then don't try too hard to do it.' But I'm really jealous of people who can go and have a good time - because in the end it MUST be fun! So how come I don't experience any fun?
So how do you go about it? I know for most of you it all comes quite naturally, but if you had to have a closer look, what's the way you let go and have a good time?
(apart from the obvious tips about alcohol and drugs of course)
Thanks, Vickie

maybe its the people you are going with? Maybe try to have a few drinks at home before goin out. My friends and I always have a little get together at someones house to have a few it helps make the night alot more fun!! Also clubs are real fun if you like to dance and the music type that is playin. The crowd at the club also reflects on how a person will act to. I really dont know what more to tell ya lightnen up and have fun!

Hmm...
Now you have to bear in mind that this is coming from a man; however, I used to go clubbing often from since I was 16 til I was 22. When I was at university, I'd sometimes go 4 or 5 nights a week.

Why did I go? Drugs - no, Alcohol - not particularly, music - not important. The reason I went was to go out with my friends and to meet other people have a laugh and carry on (if you can have a laugh with your mates then you can have a great time) - and then there was always the chance of meeting a nice girl - hey, well at least I'm being honest. If we didn't happen to meet any nice girls then we'd all go home, get a pizza or kebab (really stylish - huh) and watch some stupid DVDs like monkey magic or some other crazy movie.

There's no magic in the clubs themselves, they just provide the atmosphere you need to wind down, socialise or what ever else, if it's fun you want; then it's you and your friends that will have to make it.

Hope this hasn't confused too much.

It's all about the dancing. If you are too self conscious or don't like the music but the is something wonderful about letting yourself go and getting lost in the music. I don't drink alcohol or take drugs and i have the best time especially when a tune comes on that i really like. I know I've had a good time when me feet hurt and that's when gel party feet come in very handy! It also makes a big difference is you go with the right kind of people who like the same things as you!

I think you have to really enjoy the music and the atmosphere of the place, being relaxed in your surroundings is a big part of it, if you don't enjoy going, don't worry about it that particular club my not be your scene, try somewhere else, with different music, I'm sure you will find somewhere that you like, its just a case of finding that special something that makes you giggle.
have a look on dontstayin.com
maybe that could help you find somewhere that's a bit new and exciting for you x xx

well i dont drink or take drugs but still have fun at cluds so don tthink that they are the only ways. I have most fun when the music playing is stuff i like that i can dance to, then you can just get lost in the music and dancing and its such fun! and dont be shy, its too dark to see much anyway so even if you do make a fool of yourself no one will see lol, and there'll be plenty of other people doing worse lol.

I have to admit I'm bored with clubbing now, think ive grown out of it. I used to be obsessed with it tho it was great, I just cant be bothered with the morons and crap music now, I'd rather stay in a pub for longer. Yes i am getting old!

Big deal! You dont have to like it cos everyone else does! Its simply not your thing, nor mine, nor a few more people out there's thing either! Just go do something more interesting instead.

I agree with the question asker.

Heavy loud music, can't hear yourself think, can't hear other people, and it all the people seem so plastic and fake - but frequently people making out they are having a "great time".

Plato (the Greek philospher) once said loud beats of music make a person less able to think... perhaps people like to close their minds down.

However I also can't stand taste of alcohol so maybe thats something to do with it. I like my thrills from reality.

I am also not a clubbing person, they never interested me. but i have gone to a few out of the US though. Most of the US clubs are full of skanks (female and male) but the international clubs are the BEST!!!! If you ever go to ensenada mex. you should go to Mango Mango. There are a lot less foreigners there during july. But it also depends who you go clubbing with. I went with a few friends that know how to have fun and I had the best time ever!!!!!! And I really disapprove of clubs.

OR if you dont like clubs you should DEFINATELY go to hooka bars. they put crazy techno persian music and its A LOT CLEANER with ppl that dont do drugs or have sex while dancing.
