excuse my ignorance, i was just wondering if there was any difference between them apart from one weighing less? is the nintendo DS-lite more advanced? has more functions? thinking of getting one for christmas.......thanks xx

The DS Lite is a lot more compact and smaller. It doesn't look like a whole lot of difference, but if you have played a normal DS then you will definitely realize how much easier it is to use. The stylus on the other hand is larger and easier to handle. Another thing the DS Lite has going for it is its screens. They are much brighter and look absolutely gorgeous when compared to a normal DS. You can also control how bright they are to conserve battery power or go easier on your eyes. Lastly, it is of course newer than the original DS, and so the hardware will have a lot of the bugs and stuff fixed that the older one might have suffered from.

I have both of them and in my opinion the DS-Lite is smaller and less bulky looking. Thus, it looks better. Also, the DS-Lite has a brighter LCD. The DS-Lite looks sleeker as well.

I have a nintendo DS and my little brother has a DS-Lite and they play the same except his is lighter.

There is no difference other than weight and size. The Lite is a little smaller in size. it is not really noticeable though. The weight difference is though.
