If you do any sewing, you might consider a doll made of quilting yo-yo's. A yo-yo is a circle of fabric basted around the edge, then you pull the basting thread together to close the circle into a kind of pocket. It is then flattened with the closure becoming the center.

You can then stack them together into the arms, legs and body of a doll. The most popular finished item I've seen is a clown which your special toddler might like.

I made a book for my little boy a few years ago & he still loves it. They have blank books at Wal-Mart made just for that... You can write whatever story you want, use stickers, draw pictures, use his name in it, whatever you think he'll like.. it's fun to do too...
