There seems to be such an overwhelming number of parents here who vaccinate their helpless children under the mistaken assumption that they will be immunized.
Anyone else here dissagree with this goverment-population-control hoax?

To those who have posted threats etc etc: I too have witnessed horrific reactions to vaccines, equal to your horrific experiences. My friends baby DIED 34hrs after his 2mo shots. Personally, I'd rather help my child deal with Whooping Cough then take a chance on them DYING!!!!

Oh yeah, and to the History Buffs:
If you actually look into history, you'll see that those diseases actually began to decline BEFORE the vaccines were introduced, once better hygiene became the norm. Polio began being re-diagnosed as other illnesses so that less and less incidences of Polio were recorded in medical records.

are you kidding me?! do you want your children to get polio or other life changing diseases?! the side effects of immunizations are way better then the diseases that they could get. besides, your kids can't go to school unless they have them.

When your child comes down with something that COULD have been prevented by a five dollar vaccine...you will only have yourself to blame. My daughter was diagnosed with whooping cough the day of her 2 month check up. She was scheduled to receive the vaccine that day but instead spent the next 5 days in the hospital fighting for her life. To watch this tiny infant fight to breathe...and to cough so much she would throw up...then throw up blood from the tears in her esophogus(from vomiting so much) was horrendous..and I dont wish that on anyone!! I know that my kids will need boosters...but with all of the people who choose not to vaccinate...its only a matter of time before diseases like polio and measles start coming back in this country.

I guess if you keep your children locked up and do not let them socialize you can be ok without immunizations.

The risks of having the vaccinations are not big enough for me to risk losing my child. So you would rather you child have the possiblity to be infected with a disease that could potentially kill them, paralyze them, or alter their brain functions so much that they become a "vegetable". I suggest you do some research to find out what the diseases you can vaccinate for have the risk of causes. I think you may be shocked.

As for us we are frequently flying to other countries because we LOVE to travel. Countries we have gone to do not require these vaccination or just don't have the money for them. I also live just mere minutes from the Mexican border and as we have all heard the amount of illegals sneaking into this country (many are coming from other countries and just using Mexico as a passage). So why would I put my child at risk? You may not travel out of the country frequently but there are people all around you in the stores, daycares, parks, and churches that do. They may be vaccinated but can still carry the diseases and viruses on them and pass them off to other people.

I can understand, as a nursing student, that studies have shown a link to autism and other small problems. But would you rather your child have a super slim chance of these side effects or the lethal side effects of one of the disease and end up telling your self "if I would have only got the shots".

As a mom and a nursing student I have looked at all the pros and cons. I have chosen to vaccinate my son and will my other children (when I have more). As a mother it is my responsiblity to give my children all the protection I can.

I’m on the fence with this issue. I got a lot of pressure from many of my friends to not immunize my daughters. They sited a lot of studies that linked the immunizations to all kinds of nasty diseases and disorders.

Then our pediatrician put an equal amount of pressure to get them immunized saying it was almost child abuse to leave them exposed to diseases that are so easily controlled with immunizations.

It is an important decision each parent must make. I don’t like being told what to do with something so important from either side, so I did a lot of research myself. BOTH sides of this issue appeal to a lot of fear and only use the information that supports their position. I found the truth to be much more in the middle.

I ended up vaccinating my daughters, but not for everything. The facts weighed heavier on the side of immunization from my research. We opted not to do the Hep-B or the chicken pox. While there are risks, there is no denying that immunizations have helped a lot more people in the world than they have hurt. Small pox was eradicated thanks to immunizations, and polio is on it’s way out thanks to vaccination. With life threatening diseases or disease that can leave a person debilitated for life which a vaccine is available I think it is important to vaccinate. For nuisance diseases where almost everyone gets the disease and recovers fully, what is the point?

I urge all parents to not succumb to the fear pressures on either side of this issue and do their own research and make their own decision.

I believe in both...

I think that it is necessary but on the other hand, I feel very sorry for those whose children will get the diseases that some do as a direct result of these vaccinations...

They should be safe FOR EVERYONE and come up with tests to determine if after getting your baby a vaccination if they will come down with a nerve disorder or autism... which has been shown in recent years to be directly related to vaccination allergies...

OK, DOPE, have you ever even heard of HISTORY???? OR even current events??? There are still astrinomical deaths in countries that don't utlize these 'hoaxes'!! Before these 'hoaxes' as you put them; Whooping Cough, Diptheria, Scarlett Fever, Measles, Mumpes, Rubella, Small Pox, ETC.; KILLED (a far more seriouse side effect than vaccines) not hundres, not thousands, but MILLIONS of people worldwide.

In countries that do not offer these 'hoaxes' to their people, hundreds of thousands are still dying! "Measles killed more than half a million people, the majority of them children in 2003" (http://www.doctorswithoutborders.org/news/2005/09-14-2005.cfm) A simple search by Google, do some research and educate yourself! "A whooping cough outbreak in Papua New Guinea (PNG) has so far claimed the lives of 77 people in two provinces. " in ONE part of the world, you do the math!!! (http://english.people.com.cn/200606/27/eng20060627_277848.html). Beforea vaccine for dipthereia, in just Chicago, in just ONE year, that disease alone killed 1,463 people! Typhoid killed 1,997 people, small pox killed 1,292 people!!! (http://www.chipublib.org/004chicago/disasters/19th20th_epidemics.html) An education is simple to recieve via the interent, you don't have walk around this world being ignorant! LOOK IT UP, i've even pasted in the links for you.

I'm not saying that there are no sideffects to vaccinations, because it is a fact that there are. I know the side effects, and i know the drawbacks. HOWEVER, it is not thousands dying each year!!! I am friends with a woman whose son contracted autism from vaccines, yet he is still alive. Another friend of mines son has HSD (Hyper Sensitivity Disorder) contracted from a vaccine, yet he is alive! Yes some will suffer, but not millions will not die!!!!!! For a mother of a child who has contracted autism or some other disorder from vaccinations, it is not a fair thing. Yet that SAME mother would be condeming the same government, even more, if that same child were to die from Scarlett Fever and the govt. hadn't offered a vaccinaion for it! Keep your ignorance to yourself.

Vaccinations are not a hoax. They are not perfect, yet, by any stretch of the means, HOWEVER, the risks that vaccinations bring are far less dangerouse that the death toll that these diseases bring!!!

I have two little girls 1 and 2 years old immunisation is a difficult concept as a parent as it requires you to place your children at risk of side-effects (however small) which may never be of any benefit to them.

What it is imperative to consider is the consequence as well as the risk. Believe me the immunisations are real and so are the diseases which may casuse anything from infertility to death. In the UK when I was a child there was a huge scare regarding an immunisation, my mother like many others did not immunise me, I caught the disease and was very ill. The memory is the earliest and most haunting of my childhood.

Your government employ highly trained Doctors, pharmacologists etc to test and evaluate the immunisations and diseases in terms of their risks and consequences. You can probably find a wealth of information on the web about each immunisation and judge for yourself. After spending weeks of sifting through the information and statistics I had to agree with my government it is "wise to immunise".

I agree it's BS. My baby died 7 days after her 4 month shots and it was ruled as a SIDS death. I did nothing but research for the next year after she died and found all kinds of interesting things. 85% of all SIDS babies die within 2 weeks of their 2, 4, or 6 month shots. The DPT shot is the one that has been linked to SIDS. One of the adverse side effects from the DPT shot is apnea and hypopnea, that is on top of the side effects and adverse side effects from the other 3 they get. And why in the hell do they need four different shots at 2, 4, and 6 months??? This is way too much for a baby's vulnerable body to handle. Well I know the answer to that question now. My Aunt works for a health insurance company and she told me that that stupid *** schedule was designed by the insurance companies themselves to cut down on all the crap that goes on on their end. This was not designed by the medical industry to further benefit our babies. If you go to a free clinic they do them one at a time and my mom said years ago it wasn't like that and that me and my sister only got them one at a time. It's BS and my baby died because of it. I have to more now and I delayed all their vaccinations. As long as they have them all by the time they are ready for school who cares, at least they are still alive.

I am not totally anti immunization. However the baby's immune system is still underdeveloped and the IZ schedule that the medical profession has thought to be healthy for our children is not. Alot of the IZ have mercury in them. It is suggested that the babies have a chance to have their immune systems mature before getting IZ. Another good benefit would be to breastfeed your baby for a long time as the human milk serves as a protectant to the infant's undeveloped immune system.

If it wasn't for immunizations, we would have all the diseases still around that wipe out millions of people over the years. Polio, small pox, and many more. I am glad that schools require immunizations. I think people are ignorant if they think that getting a vaccination is more dangerous than the disease itself. My kids have had every vaccination, and are extremely healthy!!!

Hoax? This hoax has all but wiped out polio and has wiped out smallpox in this country. Whooping cough & German measles are almost unheard of now.

That being said...I opted NOT to immunize my infant son. Not because I think it is wrong or causes autism only because they immunizations made him very, very ill. Since I homeschooled it wasn't an issue (schools require up to date immunizations) and we got him up to date when he was much older and it didn't make him ill then.
