More killing has been done in history in the name of religion than for any other reason.I believe in God without a doubt, but I wouldn't walk into a church if you paid me.It's funny that I find church goers to be the most intolerant folks I've come accross. The people in church may not be evil but yes ,religion is most definetly evil and you can bet satan is happy with the divisions that religion creates. All part of his evil plan.

I think religion is evil sometimes that's why I consider myself nondenominational I believe what comes out of the bible.and don't understand where some religions get what they believe like the end of the world it says in t he bible he will come from the sky but t he baptist think that we will all just start disappearing i would like to know where it says that the Norman's believe that there are 3 rankings in heaven that the 3 ranking cant visit a or b but the b can visit c but not a and a can visit b and c i think that's crazy and t he Jehovah witnesses believe that there is only a certain amount of people that are chosen to go to heaven and believer they have meet some of the chosen I don't agree with it at all so people have to be careful about religion that's why i believe just what the bible tells us

I think religion is bad because it expects and requires people to turn their brains over to some authority figure -- a preacher, a pope, a president, an invisible sky daddy, or something. Anything that convinces people to turn away from reality is a bad thing.
The only purpose of faith is to reinforce the authoritarianism of religion -- to keep the masses believing and tithing and obeying.
You're trying to make the argument that religion and faith are not the same thing, but that's a pointless argument, because they depend on each other for their continued existence.

I think religion was created to help make the world a better place. I also think that people have gotten way out a hand with it. One is no better then the other. If you actually tried to accomplish what the bibles preach, I think we'd all be nuts by now. So in my opinion, just doing what you think is right is the best part of religion, the rest is poppycock.

It is both good and bad. It can blind us and block us from ever listening to any other reasoning beyond our own God, but it can also teach us about other cultures, and how different people view the world. People refuse to embrace religion because they don't want to get involved in the conflict of "my God is right and yours isn't", but personally I would rather learn more about it before I decide to judge if it is good or bad.
And so I did learn more about it. I'll be contradictory and say, look where I am, after viewing so many religions: Depressed, partially insane and agnostic.
In most ways, it is bad. Especially for the mind.

It depends on how the believers hold it to be. Good n bad i would although i m a believer of none. Good is that it gave people the courage, strength ties, communal bonds n provide meanings n belief for people in despair like my mum who converted to Buddhism aft she was recovering from breast cancer, she did lots of meditation, view the world from a different (Buddha) perspective n she miraculously survive more than the expected years predicted by the doctor.
Bad- look at religious extremists who waged war or create unrest in the name of god rather than rationality. ALL (or most) Religion requires their believers to accept the teaching n NV Question or HaF doubts. this is y i cant be a religious guy.
Neutral- Religion IS A 'THING' , IT IS NEITHER GOOD OR BAD. RELIGION IS, HOWEVER, DEPENDS ON THE PERSON WHO IS INFLUENCE BY IT N HOW HE/SHE WORSHIPED OR EMBRACED IT.

Your guys are nutters. Look Japanese and Chinese, when they are born, they worship their ancestors;when they marry, they go to church; when they die, their family will ask monk to come to do the ceremonies and hope Bodhisattva can help the dead man.The fist day of new year the whole family will go to the temple and pray for blessings. How many Gods are they believe in?Only God knows it. Specially in China, there are too many religions and all kind of Gods ,but in more than three thousand years' history, people never begin a war for religion. those people fight for different religion is silly , aren't right?

Religion is not evil but people can be.
Most major religions have the same central beliefs. It is human behavior that creates differences. People should learn how to listen, understand and think about religion. Instead we just have superiority issues where people think "My religion is better and different than your religion".

Religion exists to help us to know and love God. It isn't religion that damages the meaning & purpose of faith. It's people & how they use or abuse it. It doesn't take many bad apples to give religion a bad name.
