it used to be rice, But you cant do that anymore because many states wont allow rice throwing at weddings because its hazardous to the birds, and it hurts people faces, Confetti is nice, but thats too cheap, try birdseed,

Rice is traditional, but a small change that is much better is to throw bird seed.

The birds around the area will eat the rice, and it's not good for them. Bird seed isn't much different in size, and much healthier for the birds. That's what they throw in my family when someone gets married.

i would say confetti. people wish the groom and bride a fruitful marriage. and if you throw rice birds will eat the uncooked rice.
