My parents have sleep disorders and cpap machines so they really don't have energy for hobbies or anything. My dad is a construction worker and all he really likes to do is sleep and watch tv. My mom uses all her energy up doing her work (medical transcription) and she gets mad at me when I don't know what to get her (but she never tells me what she wants). Any ideas?! thanks!

I would suggest something that is practical and they will put to good use. For your father, maybe a big metal thermos to put his coffee in and take to work. One that holds a large amount of coffee and it will keep it warm for a long time when he is outside working. For your mother, since she is an MT and works at home, like myself, her coffee or tea must get cold rather quick while she is typing away. There is a desk top heater that you can put your coffee cup on and it keeps it warm. I am an MT and would like to get one of these myself.

For your Mom, look around for computer accessories that will help prevent carpal tunnel syndrome since she spends so much time at the keyboard. Perhaps a gel pad to rest her wrists on as she types? Also some type of electric massager she can use to relax her hands after typing all day. For Dad,since he probably spends a great deal of time on his feet, consider a foot bath/massager. Gifts like these show you care about their comfort and well-being.

Hey! My parents are just like that and i usually get them something from the heart. When we go shopping like at wal*mart i pay attention to what they say or what they look at because it could be a possibility. If you want to get mushy then you could write your mom a poem letting her know that you appreciate her and trust me she will love it and as for your dad you could get him a now tool since he is a construction worker or you said he likes watching tv ask him what his favorite movie is so what he might like to see and then you could go from there.

There are acouple of companies that prepare your meals for you. All you do is go to the facility and pick your gourmet meals. Everything is premade and all they would do is heat it up!!! One is called "Super Suppers" They offer gift certificates. Also, Omaha Steaks is a great idea. You can go online and order the food to be delivered or buy a GC.

Mother's like bling. Get her a lovely silver necklace with a nice shiny pendent on it. That way she can wear it while she works and when she looks down she'll see it often. As for dad, a hearty coffee mug for his television viewing with a huge tin of snacks just for him. Thats what I got my parents oe year and they enjoyed it. You see, I had the same problem you did.
