I can not access iTunes/QuickTime---keeps opening error that I have do not have sufficient access to that key even though I am an administrator--is this a registry issue?

Try this out, go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/ and download itunes. If the download see's your Itunes that you say you have already, it will go thru and repair. Also download http://www.download.com/Advanced-WindowsCare-Personal/3000-2086-10407614.html?part=dl-AdvancedW&subj=uo&tag=button and let this straighten out your windows for you. Good luck. Mikie.
