We wear tampons or very slim pads. If it is your practice day, you can wear something that hides it pretty well. If it is your performance day - yeah, well, you have little more to deal with than just costume, makeup, warmup, but it is still manageable. Namely, you get to take extra trips to the bathroom, but oh well that's life.

I used super tampons. No show is usually longer than two hours and if it is there is usually an intermission. i would change my tampon during intermission while I was putting my costume on. Since I did classical ballet there were no black tights allowed except for contemporary pieces. And as for underwear, I hate to tell you but there usually isnt any and if there is its white and you can still see if you bleed through. That's about all you can do. I remember many a time dancers running into th locker room asking if anyone had a tampon, so i always kept a box in my locker for everyone and a few in my bag for auditions. As for cramps exercise helps get rid of them and my teachers never excused us from class for that reason. Their mantra was dance through it.

tampons come in handy, if they're still afraid of showing I suggest wearing black tights and/or leotard. And keep a sweatshirt to tie around the waist (just in case!) even though you probably can't wear it while dancing...its still a good thing to have. There are pills to take that help with cramps and other annoying symptoms. The only other bad thing is extra bathroom trips (like someone else said) but there's nothing we can really do about that...

my girlfriend taught dance for fifteen years and that was a concern to many of the dangers so of them just could not dance during that time but other simply used products available to them to help them thru it. Check with your dance teacher or any one for that matter and they will surely tell you about all the things that you can do to help you thru this above all do not be embarrassed about it it is a natural thing and one that every woman has to deal with whether she dances or not. work like you don't need the money, love like you have never been hurt and dance like no one is watching.

keep going...just keep dancing.
The primary concern for serious dancers when they get their period is not if it will show (were black tights and/or tampons) but if it hinders their dancing because of cramps, muscle pains, etc.
A lot of dancers don't get a "heavy flow" anyway...I know, too much info

They are OBVIOUSLY going to wear tampons, not pads. But then again, you are somewhat right. I don't know exactly what they do for that. Maybe they have a certain kind of underwear??? I know cheerleaders do.
