You have to pay a monthly fee for WoW. You can either go with game cards or credit card. I dont think they have free accounts, unless you want to play on a private server. Can't really tell you much more, thats just what is common with almost all MMO's, and way back when I played WoW for a bit.

private servers I wouldnt recommend at least for WoW the coding blows, they are down often, and very corrupt.

Oh ya, and you get a month free with WoW, its a trial period, most MMO's have them. I think you still have to enter in a credit card or game card. Then if you dont like it after 14 days or so, cancel your subscription and your card wont get charged. If its a game card you are left in the dust I think.

Ya, you have to get WoW to play, there may be soem ones you can DL out there for free, but you need a CD key too, and unless you know where to look, you can't find those for free easily.

They have 14 day free trials on the website..I have seen free private servers but like the last person said..they are very buggy and a lot of down time. I wouldn't play on those for a few more years untill they get things figured out. WoW has a monthly fee that i think is $14.99/mo If you pay by 3 months its cheaper by like a dollar or something..but I've been playing since it came out in 2004. Very good game..it's about time you've bought it :) There is an expansion coming out in January though. It will have new races to choose from and such.

There are alternatives to WoW in the MMORPG genre. Rush On Seven Episodes (R.O.S.E), MapleStory, Survival Project are all games I can think of off the top of my head that are completely free to play. They make money by people paying for extras in the game, sometimes that would help with gameplay in such games.

You have to pay. They do have three different payment plans. One is $14.99 a month, $41.97 for every three months ($13.99 a month) and then $77.94 for every 6 mths (12.99 a month). They do not have anything free, but to me its worth the money.
