Try MUonline. I played that for a few years. I went to a "cheat server" so that I can experience the game without playing for a decade. Seriously it takes forever to level. Its not super easy either. darksideofmu.com very fun. Also you could spend about $20 at Walmart on Guildwars which has no monthly fee which I think is a decent game. Its no WoW or anything but good.

A good free RPG would be MapleStory, though it tends to get a bit boring after a while.

You can play Ragnarok Online, it's pretty decent and it's fun. Just type in RO top 200 at yahoo and you should get results.
