I am going through the exact thing with my mother and she actually quit for 3 months and then started up again

She had went to some pharmacist and got a perscription to help her quit.
Im not quite sure how its working so far but she doesnt pick up a cigarette every 2 min.
So see if your mom would go try to get a perscription.

If she refuses the gum and other things then you really cant do much other than try to drive her crazy about her quiting. even then im still not sure what will happen

smoking is a hard habit to beat

My mom quit smoking cold turkey at 36 when she planned to have me and my brother three years after that. She hasn't smoked since. She is 81 now.

I'm surprised your mom started again after having you and your brother. Most quitters don't restart unless something is very wrong.
She should go to the doctor for help with quitting smoking since she gave up on the pills and gum.

In the meantime, take all her cigarettes and get rid of them. Put them where she cannot find them. Then she can do something else with her hands besides smoke cigarettes.

Ask your mother if she wants to quit. Tell her all the negative effects on smoking. That should give her some incentives to make up her mind.
If she wants to give it a try. Use the nicotine patches. She can also use the nicotine gum for break through urges while on the patch. Keep the use of gum to a minimum to avoid nicotine overdose. Make sure she does not overuse the gum and end up depending on it.
Follow the patches' regimen accordingly.
Good Luck.

If your mother has been smoking since she was 15 then she is addicted. You need to tell your mother to see a doctor about this because smoking is a disease that kills you little by little and you don't even know. Tell her that she needs help before it's too late.

Hello -- She needs to go to the doctor and get a script. Plus she needs to join a suport group. She truly needs to know just how you feel. I just recently came from a funeral of a dear friend and
she smoked all of her life. I called her up one day, and she
was unable to talk. I knew that she had throat cancer unfortunately it was too late for her.
But, most of all tell your mother that you love her and that you
are truly concerned about her health.

not everyone that smokes dies of a related illness. i read that smoking takes ten years off your life but the last ten are usually crappy ones anyways. just make everyday count and not get so worked up. tomorrow is a mystery.

Give your self the freedom to love her no matter her choices in life.As time has evolved I've discovered people make choices for many reasons.I thought my Mother was so selfish when she smoked.I even envisioned I would be the one, who cared for her in her cancer.I was caught up in fear for her, along with the possible loss of her.My Mother was able to quit.
If you believe in prayer, ask God to take the fear of losing her.Ask him to give you grace to accept her, then ask ,that he protect her body while, you continue to pray for a miracle of conscience of health.

Unfortunately you cant make her stop she has to get that resolve herself. Keep talking to her about this and when (if) she finally decides to quit support her as much as you can.
