Hi,
I am a teenager living in Greensboro, North Carolina and I want to get into the television and movies buisness (be an actress). I know that I need to create a resume but I have also heard that I can create a cover letter or somthing. Please tell me EVERYTHING I need or is good to send to agents. Also I need to find an agent and their mailing addresses to mail my resume to......how do i do that? I keep hearing about contacting your regional SAG (Screen Actor’s Guild) office. Could someone please explain to me what that is, how to contact it, and what to say, ask or, tell them? Also what is a Union (please explain in detail)?

Egads ... wot a wish list -- yep, you sound like a demanding actress alright, you'll go far.

Visit backstage.com for most of your answers -- it has auditions and business news for live, film and tv.

You'll need a resume but most importantly you'll need a "reel", samples of all your past television and movie work.

A cover letter is just a letter describing the rest of the packages contents and your desire.

You'll need a "head shot" with your name printed on it.

SAG is a Union -- it protects actors from being taken advantage of my directors and producers, insures they get paid well and the working conditions are safe.

It depends on what the procedure is for Greensboro. It is not generic across the USA.

What is okay in Greensboro, is not acceptable in NYC. NYC has specific formats for resumes, as do other cities.

You need to find how resumes are written in Greensboro. You need to find what type of headshot is preferred in Greensboro. You need to find how actors contact agents (mail, telephone, postcard, e-mail, etc.)

One cannot tell you everything because it is up to YOU do Greensboro research.

Ask your actor friends to TELL YOU EVERYTHING! This is something you must research on your own.

Don't worry about a Union. There is no SAG (Screen Actors Guild) office in Greensboro.

Get the best acting training you can in Greensboro. Focus on studying nothing else, for now.
