Mesopotamians invented cuneiform. Cuneiform was the first form of writing.

Mesopotamian people developed many technologies, among them metalworking, glassmaking, textile weaving, food control, and water storage and irrigation.

The Mesopotamians used a sexagesimal (base 60) numeral system. This is the source of the current 60-minute hour and 24-hour day, as well as the 360 degree circle. The Sumerian calendar also measured weeks of seven days each. This mathematical knowledge was used in mapmaking.

The Babylonian astronomers were very interested in studying the stars and sky, and most could already predict eclipses and solstices. Mesopotamian astronomers worked out a 12 month calender based on the cycles of the moon. They divided the year into two seasons: summer and winter. The origins of astrology probably date from this time.

So to say the least, they contributed a number of things we still use today.

So far they seem to be the center of religion around me >.<

Which is really based on other religions,.. but,.. well most people don't seem to know these things.

But they're versions spawn violence,.. much too much violence and this whole "Mines real, yours isn't" thing. It's annoying. It's what people are use to these days,.. fighting over better then, bigger then, greater then,.. you know.

It's hard to find much else gained since most things were taken from some where else but that's also normal.
