I deleted a Microsoft word document about 6 months ago when cleaning out my computer. But I really need it now, and I know that even if a file i deleted it is still on the harddrive in a compressed form. Does anyone know how to retreive files that have been deleted after many disk cleanups and file compressions have been done. I know i could just system restore back to a date a while ago, but that is not the way i want to go. Can anyone out there help me. I know the name of the file but I have no clue how to retreive or access it. How do I get to it.

There are number of softwares that can do that recover of deleted data. Symantec has oneand another one is system mechanic(www.iolo.com). Its not free but you can see if the trial version lets you do that or not.

Another good product and probably the best: http://whitecanyon.com/recover-deleted-microsoft-word-files.php and again it is not free.

I don't know any freeware that can do such high tech job and that understood. you know.
Give those a try.

If You erased it at the time then no chance. If you only sent it to the rec bin, then emptied the bin, it might be possible using a costly utility. I say might, only if you havn't made/saved/stored a lot of stuff since then. ie been on hols or summin.
hope you get your file back :)
