Marijuana being legal would make a major impact on this country. There could be less dangers and crimes, and there could be more. But one thing is for certain we will not know until it has happened. What I am saying is to legalize marijuana and see how things go, if things go bad then you can make it illegal again but who knows, maybe it might be beneficial.
As far as the make alcohol illegal thing goes. If alcohol was made illegal there would be way more problems with it then there is with marijuana.
Also smoking marijuana can be dangerous when driving, I agree. But then it can be made to were you will get fined for driving "high". Also in all my days of smoking (I don't anymore, arrested for possession) I have never seen anyone have road rage when they are "high". Seriously smoking is healthier for you then drinking, not saying it's completely healthy for you, just that your liver isn't going to rot away at the age of 40 and your not going to become poisoned or retarded.
Also before I go, smoking out of a vaporizer brings the THC (which is the chemical that makes you "high") into your body through only vapors, so that no smoke is inhaled and your lungs can stay fresh and clean.
The Dopester has spoken... PEACE!

Both should be legal but with restrictions like tobacco and alcohol already have. I used to smoke marijuana before I had my children. I kept a job, finished high school with a 4.0 GPA, I've never been to jail, I've never been violent. Oh, and when I wanted to quit, I quit. The odd thing about this is that a pedophile gets less jail time than a person does for selling pot. In what way does that sound legit?

I am a recovering addict, but am not naive enough to believe that legal status has anything to do with my addictions. Prohibition of any type is tyranny(Thomas Jefferson) It is not the governments place to be our mommies and daddies into adulthood. All prohibition does is create an underground economy for organized crime to flourish. Which is the obvious agenda of the powers that be. Cocaine is not grown or produced any where on the north American continent. Try to get on a plane with some baking powder. How does it get here? Things that make you go Hm mm?

marijuana must be legalized for 1000 different motives, in spite of the indisputable fact that the most important one is that it in simple terms isn't undesirable for you. the absolutely reason its unlawful is a few smear campaigns adversarial to it contained in the early-middle twentieth century that were completely depending off of lies. the authorities in simple terms were given swept up on it and bam its a agenda a million drug. after we get a number of the more moderen generations into senate seats then marijuana will definately be legalized. there is rather no reason it ought to nicely be dealt with any in a distinct way than alcohol. certain, there is going to be a small share of the inhabitants that abuses it, yet thats going to take position with any ideas-replacing substance. the different ninety 5% of the inhabitants will thankfully smoke bud and reason no complications. people will now not ought to purchase off the line, which will decrease down on gang/drug-correct violence. the marijuana marketplace will explode. its already the #a million funds crop in california. imagine the money there must be contained in the marijuana marketplace; it ought to definately rival that of huge alcohol. the benefits outweigh the negatives with the help of a lengthy shot

You're absolutely right. Marijuana isn't perfect (it can be psychologically addictive and make people lazy) but alcohol creates problems ranging from violence, abuse, traffic deaths, and sickening and poisoning the body. Yet its acceptable and marijuana is not. Ridiculous! Still I don't think alcohol should be illegal because adults ultimately need to have a choice about what they put in their own body. Here in Humboldt county (Mendocino too) we are lucky that legislation and law enforcement have started to recognize that weed is not worth arresting and prosecuting for.

We know prohibition does not work.
Anyone tries to tell you the War On Drugs is winnable and is being won is probably preaching to the choir.
The only way to stop the persecution of individuals is to change our government. There are more than two parties for every race, and the simple answer is to check out other parties and their platforms.

Please support your incredible thesis. Anyone who takes mid-altering substances, including prescription drugs, is not necessarily capable of driving a potentially lethal weapon. That goes for pot too. So, for you to say that it does not kill anyone beggars belief.
Prohibition of alcohol did not work in the 1920's. There is no reason to think it would work now.
The issue of legalizing certain "recreational" drugs must be weighed carefully. To what extent does an exposure to pot lead to taking more destructive drugs? Until someone can do a scholarly study (ie, one without a hidden agenda, one way or the other), I prefer to err on the side of caution. they should remain illegal until enough worthwhile studies have been done

Right. Nothing is wrong with a good ol grown plant that makes you happy. Start prescribing it for depression!! However keep alchohol. You couldn't get rid of booze if you tried.

You bring a good point, except weed has killed a few people, or been the cause of a few car accdients, fights, and causes poor judement as does alchol, so the bigger question is why is alchol legal?

Being 51 and taking a stand on pot or booze, I would choose pot. You won't go out and hurt anybody. Alcohol killed my father at my age. He drank and drank and of coarse I was to young to realize what was going on at the time. If he had pot around and was able to do it instead of drink, he would probably still be around, to see his only granddaughter.
