If it was true that everyone in the Navy was gay, that would be fine because sexual preference has nothing to do with serving your country! However, I can assure you that everyone in the Navy isn't gay because I'm married to a guy in the Navy, and I'm pretty sure between the nine years of marriage and four children we have brought into this world together, at some point he would have said "By the way, I'm gay!"

Don't ask, don't tell is not an Army quote. It is the official Department of Defense POLICY. To put simply, they are no longer allowed to ask you if you are gay. If you are, do not tell them. Any type of gay sexual activity while in the military can result in a discharge from the service. The policy does not say that is okay as long as you keep it quiet. At most, it is a free pass for behavior done prior to joining. While I highly doubt that the discharge would be dishonorable since those are the result of a courts-martial and are a felony conviction, they will put you out. Is it fair? Not at all. When I was in uniform my first concern was rather or not the person next to me was competent and able to perform their duty, not who they sleep with. Update: For those of you who seem to post "I'd be afraid to take a shower with them!", do you really think that you are so hot that you drive not just the opposite sex crazy, but gay members as well? Bit stuck on yourself aren't you? Update 2: Yes, the UCMJ forbids sodomy. Let's see them actually enforce it however. Sodomy is committed just as often by heterosexual couples as gay couples. Care to invite your commander into your bedroom to observe what you and your partner do?

No. That is a stereotypical thing to ask.I have friends who's fathers are in the navy. THey have wives and I know for a fact that at least one of them is not gay.

no it is not true! gay is just a sexual preference and it should not matter what your sexual preference is when it comes to serving your country!
