I am going to the doctor's on Monday for a follow-up. I went last week and they said that when I come back in a week they will give me an enema. The doctor told me that it will consist of three doses of soap,cator oil, and water. I never heard of this and I am scared.
Here are my questions:
Is it scary?
What will they do?
What is an enema?
Is it painful?
How long does it take?
How is it administered?
Anything else about it that I should know?
Please tell me in detail anything and everything you know about them.
My information:
I am a 13 year-old female. My doctor is a female, but sometimes I have a male. I think the male will administer it.

After it is given, do you run straight to the bathroom and do the doctor's stay in the bathroom with you?

Well... i have had to do three enemas the night before i had surgery, but i only had t use warm water. It cleans out your intestines. I bought mine at the store, so it might be similar. What it is is this bag type thing that hold water or whatever and then connected to that there is a tube. The end of the tube is out into your booty and they bag will be lifted in the air so all the water will go thru you. Theres alot of pressure, but it doesnt hurt. Its more akward if anything. And then you just goto the bathroom right after and like everything comes out. Its not too bad. But goodluck!

An enema is a laxative to cleanse your system. To answer your questions.
It is scary.
They will put it up your butt.
It's a laxative.
It is a little painful you really have to relax.
It takes about 2-3 minutes.
Up your butt.
It is usually given toa person that is constipated.
You should have nothing to worry about. They do it o little kids. The only thing is that it works really fast so get ready to run to the bathroom.
