I'm from So Cal and we're used to very mild weather. But thinking of moving to Raleigh. Be honest: If you've actually lived in the Raleigh area, please tell me what the typical summer and winter are like. Buggy, miserably hot/cold, lots of snow, ice, what? What months? I know I can look up the averages, but I want to hear from the folks who actually live in the area. Thanks!

i lived just outside of raleigh for years, theres a saying that goes like this "if you dont like the weather today, wait till tomorrow" another way of saying its extremely changeable! summers are hot, humid, sticky and yucky, fall and spring are fairly nice and cool with lovely sunny days, winters can be great, but also icy cold with wind chills of below 0. usually doesnt last too long though. Ive been through winters with no snow, and winters with loss of power due to ice storms. very tempremental weather

Well from June to Augaust and somtime September the weather can be very muggy and hot in the upper 90's but feel like its the 100's with the humidity. But the winters are usually mild usually no colder than 50 degrees and as for snow it's a rear occurance. I'm from cold PA but found the weather to be quite enjoyable but I recently had to leave Raleigh this pasty July.

I hope I helped you out.

spring: warm and rainy or cool and rainy.
summer: hot, dry, and humid. it's pretty bad.
autumn: hot, then cool, then hot, then cool, and when it's cool it is raining.
winter: usually mild, but can get down to freezing at night. once in a while a cold front moves in and it may not get above freezing at all. and raleigh can get freak snow storms (like 1 ft and above) or no snow at all.
remember: june to november is hurricane season. a hurricane on the coast may swing nearby and affect the weather, and you can get really heavy rains and high winds
also bear in mind: have your heavy winter clothes on hand in the winter, but keep out a couple of pairs of shorts just in case.
