Hey Dark Night,
Well, they ate their dead, I guess that would top the list.
They attempted to go over the Sierra Nevada mountains at the wrong time of the year too.
Maybe they swore and had bad thoughts too, lol. Just see the site at wikipedia.

They resorted to eating each other althought a few months/years ago a study came out and the donners (the family the party was named after) may been seperated from the group and not have eaten there dead..

you have to explain what bad means in terms of the situation. It would be bad if your across the street and grabbed a neighbor, sliced him up and cooked his for dinner. If however you are like the Donner party or the Soc cor team that crashed in the snow covered Andes you have a chose to make. There's was to eat the dead to stay alive. Anyone who says that they wold die first has never gone without food for more than a week you will do almost anything to survive and though you me regret it later no one who was not there has any right what so ever to judge your actions because that's just it there were not there. so were their actins bad or just the necessary actions of desperate people?

I met a descendant of the Donner party. He presently lives in Reno, NV. His name is Jeff and can be reached at Western Property Management. You may want to ask him. He will tell you some personal history about the party's survival.
