I currently have a 'system' boiler running a vented central heating system. Can this easily be changed to a sealed system? The boiler already has the pump/expansion vessel etc...

This isn't a DIY task - but need to know the scale of work. As the boiler itself is desgined to allow for a 'sealed' heating system (and the current hot water tank is also supposed to be suitable for the sealed/3 bar pressures), I wanted to know whether it was just a case of closing the loop and removing the header tank...

I am aware that some of the pipework/valves may leak due to the increased pressure - anyone know of any other issues?

You need a heating engineer to change the boiler to a System Boiler, or a combi, depending on your hot water useage and the current water heating method.

Oh! now the question has changed. You already have the boiler, you just need to change the pipework.

3) More information!! your cylinder won't have any more pressure, its heated by the coil, you will probably be keeping the cold storage tank?

I rest my case!!!

Yes it should be strait forward but it may depend how many radiators you have on the system. The Installation manual will give you the basic layout of the plumbing and the capacity of the expansion vessel . Why was the boiler put on an open vented system in the first place. Is it easy to put the pressure safety discharge pipe to the outside and a safe position remember it could discharge steam or very hot water.

HI Bob. You need to disconnect your small heating header tank in loft. and cut the pipes off at the-top of the airing cupboard. Your vent pipe you wont need. Obtain a Brefco kit from plumbers merchant (around about 60 quid i think). this you will have to connect to the cold feed from your old tank and your mains water to fill. It would be a good idea to flush system and add inhibitor .But remember to follow currunt water regs. As you changing the system the local authority may have to be informed Kevin

First examine e book on boiler. next verify the water stress in boiler. could be between a million-a million.5bar. If the boiler heats the nice and comfortable water verify that the nice and comfortable water / heating change is interior the main outstanding place. If a number of those standards are made then my suggestion is the two get a heating engineer or a boiler representative to analyze out boiler.
