Do white and blacks get along better in poor communities now than 20 years ago? If yes, is rap music a helper?

Hip hop gets a bad rap. What about the unity it brings. I agree alot of rappers arnt talking about nothing but walking it out or chain hangin low. But hey it doesnt sound like KRAMER

I think that races "getting along" is based on the mentality of the people involved. Stupid people are racist and racist people would not listen to Rap. I do think Rap has helped mix cultures.

I would like to think that Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Jews and Asians are ALL getting along better than we have 20 years ago.

As a teacher in a low income community, I have witnessed a real brotherhood between children of different cultures, that adults can only dream about in the world. It is funny how children accept each other when playing or learning together, but then fall off the tolerance "wagon" as they grow.

At first, they are fine...then they create a distance between each other. Kids can't become bias or prejudge on their own. They learn these things from parents or other adults. After we prove to them that your religion or race doesn't matter in our world, the parents brainwash their children to avoid anyone who is different from themselves.

Unfortunately, rap is not the answer to unity within cultures, although it does touch a lot of young hearts. It may offer stimulating rhythms that many young people admire, but it can't bring millions of people to agree on living together in peace...I wish it did, though!

All we can do is remain a positive influence to our children and avoid speaking or acting in a bias tone. This example will demonstrate the manner that is acceptable to us, and prayerfully, they will slowly adapt to that manner which we demonstrate.

Poor blacks and whites ALWAYS got along very well in the deep south. They helped each other. They did not socialize but helped each other to survive. It went both ways. Not many people new that, especially the northern that only heard wild tales about the south. The southern blacks and whites got along one heck of a lot better than some would like for you to know....and still do.

There ARE some racists whites just like there ARE racists blacks. Always have been and always will be.

Rap is disgusting and NONE of it helps anybody to get along better.

I do believe that white and black people in poor communities now as it is more likely they will live in the same communities. Hiphop speaks to people of either race, but I don't attribute the blk/wht unity to the music. The ever-widening gap between the rich and the poor is responsible for this one.

yes i think that race relations in this country has improved alot and that has positive and negative things that go along with it. because it is not PC to be prejudice now a days, it is not in the open so you never know with whom you are dealing. they smile in your face and then one day it just comes out like in Kramer. if he did not really feel that way about blacks then that stuff never would have came out of his mouth. as a man thinks so is he; out of the mouth pours the desires of the heart.

I will go to my grave not understanding the black,white thing! I just hope my kids won't have the same hate thing going on when they get older, I look at like this, love a Black person and hate that dictator Bush!
