You can take Tylenol PM - I did and it won't hurt you. I took it once every 3 days. Had no problem

I'm 18 weeks pregnant and have the same problem. The only thing that you can take for insomnia is Tylenol PM. It worked for me a little bit. He also told me to drink a big glass of warm milk before I went to sleep and not to eat anything a couple of hours before I fell asleep.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Try Melatonin - 2 mg tablet. Available over the counter in most drug stores, completely natural, homeopathic.

Your body makes melatonin, it's what tells your body what "time" it is. It sounds like you may have a slight imballance, nothing to be concerned about, these things are normal during pregnancy. Taking the melatonin tablet simply replaces what your body isn't making on it's own right now.

Take it a half hour before you are ready to go to sleep, this will help your body get back into a normal sleep patern and help it to begin making the melatonin on its own again.

You should never take any medications without clearing it with your doctor but mine told me that Tylenol PM was perfectly safe. I had horrible insomnia during my recent pregnancy. One tylenol pm each night helped a great deal. Don't wait till your next visit like I did. I was a total zombie by then. Call her/him, leave a message, they'll call you back with an answer.

I would not suggest taking anything with out talking to your DR first.
when I had this problem I would take a warm bath with a cup of warm milk and read for a while. If that did not help I would get up and go for a walk.Or clean my house. Anything that would make me physically tired.Sex works good to.Hope this helps some.

Nothing that your doctor hasn't prescribed.

Seriously, see your doctor. Tthere are lots of medicines that are safe to take in pregnancy (contrary to what most people think) but they need to be prescribed by a doctor. Best person to ask is an OB Consultant (if you are seeing one) - they are experts on this.

Don't think that just because something is "herbal" and natural it will be safe. Herbal remedies can be just as dangerous in pregnancy as medical drugs, in fact even more so as their effects are not fully known.

I've had treatments for sickness, hayfever, heartburn and depression during my pregnancy but I haven't taken ANYTHING that wasn't prescribed by my doctor or OB because thats the only way I know its going to be safe (and baby is fine!)
