I am a straight-A-student and for me it's great! If I forget about something, don't know how to do homework or so, teachers always try to help me and there are nearly no consequences of it. They just know I work hard and it's not because of laziness.
There are also some cons, though. Sometimes I've got enough of being the first one, HAVING to be the first one. When I say I haven't prepared something just because I don't care, my classmates can't believe in it. It's so strange for them... And, among all, I'm treated like an encyclopaedia. Most of people can't see that I'm a living person, not a machine.

I was close to being a straight A...all A's and B's...always made the honor roll. To be honest with you, it has very little to do with being smarter than others. I do not think I'm smarter than the average person, but it does have alot to do with working hard. I always studied, and hated to do poorly on tests. I knew if I applied myself, I could do well, so why settle for anything less? I did not see myself as a teacher's pet either, but I think they liked me because they knew I tried my best, and was respectful towards them.

I have a 4.0 right now, and I'm in all honors and advanced classes. I'm not the teacher's pet though, I leave that to soother people. I don't feel smarter than anyone else, sometimes I feel really dumb, and I just feel like I'm not understanding anything that is being taught. I don't mind though. Next year(10th grade) I get to start college classes too.

Yes, I graduated with a 94% average. I was the teacher's pet not because I was smart, but rather because I sucked up to them. If the smartest kid has bad behaviour and a bad attitude he'll never get on his teacher's good side. It's all about how you act and what attitude you display (it doesn't matter if those are your real feelings or not). The same thing happens in the working world, so you'd better get used to it now!
(I'm now in my first year of graduate studies at university and sucking up still makes all the difference!)

I wasn't a straight-A student, but I was a teacher's pet on a couple of occasions, and hey, it feels good to get away with stuff! I have a son who is a straight-A student, and he refuses to be a teacher's pet.

Yes and I still am. I know this is mean but it is kind of fun to feel smarter. However, I hate it when I do something wrong and the kids tease me for it.
