I am interested to know what women think a 'real man' is?

I am working ona psychology project and am interested in honest input on this topic. Can use fictional characters as examples as well - such as James Bond, Ward Ceaver, etc.

Well their is no short answer for this question. A real man is one who is good looking and will cater to a woman's needs. He has to be sensitive, love children, be ok with showing his weaknesses, honest, hard working, in other words perfect. This is a dream for most women, reality is men are mostly dogs but if you find a good one hang on tight.

aaah, now you pose an interesting dilemma since there are two answers: the response that women SAY they want and the one they actually DO want! What women say they want is a man who understands them, empathises with them, feels the same on an emotional level, etc.... but what they do actually secretly want is a man who will take charge (but not a bully), someone who is decisive, responsible, slightly masterful and masculine in the old-fashioned sense, i.e. he'll stand up and defend his family. And to be a 'real' man is to be the exact opposite of a 'real' woman. I suspect most women say they would like a man to wear face cream etc., but are secretly horrified by men being 'prettier' than they are.
So - my definition of a real man is a James Bond character played by Sean Connery - hunky and with lots of body hair (opposite of women), masterful, decisive, protective ... you wouldn't catch him putting on face cream or doing the vacuuming!

A real man in my opinion . . . a man who values himself and another, respects a woman's intelligence yet still is attentive and protective of her. He's confident, romantic. A man who is confident enough to be vulnerable and allow himself to be nurtured by a woman (women are natural nurturers). A man who is confident yet not arrogant and desires to lovingly draw up a woman to stand by his side and create an environment for her to shine in her own skills and abilities. My son is a teenager and is projected to be 6 feet tall. I've told him...be aware that what makes you a man is who you are in your mind and your heart, not the height of body. You mentioned a known personality type for an example? The character who comes to mind is the male character in the movie "When Harry met Sally".

A real man is one who is interested in women, not someone of his own sex. If he is really interested in women then he would care about, respect and try to protect the women he loves. Other characteristics like humor, responsibility, looks... etc. should be applied to every person, regardless of men or women.

Is not afraid to laugh at himself, strong character, honest and is able to admit when he made a mistake. Is the one who brings home the bacon, sacrifices for his children and wife, never would emotionally or physically abuse a child or woman, able to cry, and does not need material things to identify himself because he knows who he is and the car he drives does not make him who he is. He is able to survive when times get rough and money gets low, I could go on forever.....

a real man... a real man is responsible, considerate, kind, respectful, ambitious, thoughtful. my idea of a real man is hardworking and driven, he is sweet and caring, he is respectful to my needs and feelings, but most of all a real man is honest and mature about life. noone or anything is perfect but if we r honest with who we really are then we will attract someone compatible.........

every woman has a different picture of what a "real man" is....for me, its a guy who is faithful and caters to my needs(not 24-7, but is there for me) and will take care of me.....when im with a real man i feel safe emotionally and physically.
