No, it passes through breastmilk and benzo's are very addictive so you do not want that in baby's system!

Absolutely not. Xanax is released into your breast milk and your baby gets this very dangerous drug when you feed him. What the warning below doesn't say is that drugs like Xanax are nervous system depressants. Get too high a dose and they kill you by stopping your heart and breathing. Who knows if that can happen to your baby from the breastmilk. Certainly, it is a completely unacceptable risk. Use formula.....or else.
Nursing Mothers
Benzodiazepines are known to be excreted in human milk. It should be assumed that alprazolam is as well. Chronic administration of diazepam to nursing mothers has been reported to cause their infants to become lethargic and to lose weight. As a general rule, nursing should not be undertaken by mothers who must use alprazolam.

I would say don't breastfeed yet and make an emergency call to your psych and your Pediatrician. I was on prozac during my pregnancy (lowered dose and stopped for 1st trimester) and didn't breastfeed because I needed to go back to my normal dosage and the Drs said it would carry to the baby and could cause potential harm. I would contact both of your doctors as soon as possible for their guidance on the matter. And definitely not breastfeed until you get the medical go ahead.

I would say no, because most medicines wind up in the breat milk, but just to be sure, please ask your Pediatrician.
