Prenatal vitamins are the best vitamins there are, but sometimes they contain high doses of iron. The iron will not be dangerous for you, but it may cause some constipation. If it becomes bothersome, try drinking more fluids, more fiber, or just switch to regular vitamins.

Prenatal vitamins are high in iron because when pregnant your body is depleted, PNV are also high in folic acid, research has shown that doing this can reduce the risk of neural tube defects in your baby by up to 70 percent. (That is why some doctors will advise women in childbearing years to take folic acid supplements, though many "womens" vitamins already have the higher dose)
Obviously, the dose of everything is much higher in PNV than regular vitamins and the levels are considered unsafe.
Your pharmacists would be a good person to ask (and free), and though people on the internet may give you advise, you should always consult your primary care physician before taking anything because people that answer on the net dont know if you have health problems that would be affected. Good luck with your hair and nails, but be safe!

Im pregnant and have been told that prenatal vitamins are really only best for pregnant women OR women trying to get pregnant. Ive been taking a supplement now for about 2 months and honestly i havent noticed any difference with my hair. The only thing they have helped so far is my gums seeing they bleed a fair bit because of all the hormones raging through my body. They now dont bleed. They wont harm her, but she doesnt need them. If she found a supplement that suited her current lifestyle situation and her age it would be far better for her health. Remember too and tell her this, some pregnancy supplements have double or triple the daily dosage that a normal woman without pregnancy needs. Too much calcium in the body can cause calcite plaque in the body and she needs to be careful.

Absolutlely not, Prenatal vitamins rock!
There aren't any side effects unless you are allergic to one of the vitamins contained in them. However, you should only ake prenatals that are over the counter. Do not take ones that are prescribed to someone else. If you take them and do have any side effects just stop taking them, but you will definitely see a difference in your hair, skin, and nails.

They are probably the best to take if your diet is lacking and you need extra vitamins as they are balanced and have a decent amount of vitamins in them.
They may make your nails and hair stronger but they wont make them grow any quicker

If you went to the store and got some baby vitamins, do you think they would be bad for you for some reason? no more than the pre natal ones as they are the same thing as the baby ones or regular ones, just have a bit more of somethings to make up for the baby. Actually it would be better for you, especially if you are not eating right or the right things as it will help make up for things you are not getting in your diet.

It is not dangerous. They are just viatmins, the only difference is they put extra things such as Folic acid, and other substances in them that women need. And instead of asking people on the net you should probably call and ask a professional such as a pharmacist.

No, there aren't any side effects, but if you do have an allergic reaction to one of the vitamins, I would stop taking them.

There is nothing wrong with taking them...my doctor actually told me to take them when my anemia wasn't so bad cause it had enough iron to boost my system as well as other vitamins i needed.
