advice needed: I am 16 years old (17 in a week). I started masturbating when i turned 16. I watched a movie, there was sex in it and then i started doing it. i just thought of it as nothing significant. i heard that this was called masturbation and after reading at wikipedia. i am disgusted with myself. I am a christian and stayed away from girls and porn and then suddenly got into it. Now i am scared to ask girls out because of my past. I want to stop it all now. In my college boys talk about girls and porn, is it possible that some of them do it as well?? i don't know what to do? i just want to end my life and have another chance to start again. i read that it's just as worse as having s e x. someone please tell me, i am really disgusted with myself. does anyone else here do it? will i be condemned to hell? will i ever be able to have a girl friend or wife or normal life? i am depressed now. someone please advise me, i would really appreciate it, man. bye, got deleted, writing again.

Wow. Let me explain. I'm 27 and everyone I know has masterbated @ some point in your life. No you will not be condemed to hell and yes you are completely normal so you will not have to worry about having a abnormal life or girlfriend or whatever. Women as well as men find that masturbating is a sense of relief and a whole lot safer than having sex with someone every time the urge strikes. YOu are very normal dear and theres nothing to worry about.

Almost every guy does it - those college guys definitely do
Some people do it regularly - every day or whatever
Some do it once or twice in their life
Happened to me that way too, actually
Was watching TV and just started
Found out what it was a year or so later
At first I was kinda the same as you, nervous about it
Kinda felt dirty
But the more I learned about it, the more comfortable I felt with it
Been doing it for a few years now
Just look it up, find out more info about it
Eventually you'll feel better about it

John - you are clearly under a lot of stress and bad influences.
Normally I don't answer non-dental questions, but I felt so heartsick reading your question...
Here's the standard joke - if you ask 100 men if they masturbate, 90 of them will say yes.
The other 10 will lie. :)
But seriously - As a Christian that is twice your age, I can honestly say: There is nothing in the Bible that says masturbation is wrong! Do you really think God would create these thoughts and urges and then tell you, "No, you can't do ANYthing about that until you are married?"
200 years ago, people were getting married at your age and having babies right away. in our society, that isn't practical or typical. I an respect any Christian that chooses to remain abstinent 'til marriage, but expecting you to not masturbate is unrealistic.
It CAN be harmful in the sense that if you do it to exclusion of other activities, it's bad, but the same is true of ANYTHING - moderation is the key.

Its totally normal. Every guy does it. Actually some girls are totally attracted to it. Dont be disgusted! Its nothing to be ashamed of! And you wont go to hell! Dont worry! Every guy does it or did it at some time.

Get over yourself now...this is stupid. What has being a Christian got to do with masturbation???? This is totally absurd. Just don't do it in church and you will be fine. Your church teachings are giving you some very bad....BAD...feelings that are totally inappropriate. Don't be fooled by those who teach otherwise. Maturbation is normal in all animals that can do it. Lol its ok, masturbate is not a sin in christan view and its a normal part of life, i started masturbate when i was...um 14 and i often get disgusted with my self but any ways, its normal, ever one has the experanice in their life time, even your church's pastor, they just dont ever talk about it
