Is it heavy bleeding (does it soak up a pad every 2 hours)
If not if its more like spotting expect that to last a few months while your body gets adjusted to it. I spotted 3 months on and off but mainly after intercourse which is normal

I had a Mirena IUD for nine months and bled for the majority of this time. It just did not suit me. Eventually when I had it removed the bleeding was so heavy I had to return to the Doctor again who sent me for an ultrasound scan and found I had fibroids - apparently the Mirena can cause these. Give it a few weeks and if things don't improve consider an alternative.

if it is a mirena iud, it could last for some time but that is normal. mirena can cause spotting for the first few months that it is in. if it is a copper iud and you are on your period that would be normal also. the copper iud will cause heavier periods anyway. if you do not have pain or fever do not be concerned. if you are still bleeding in one week you can go back but most likely will be of no concern

Thiis a side effect of putting one in and you should see the doctor now. Thses things can cause severe cramps also and are very efective in stopping pregrancy. they rarely work well from everyone i've known to use them.
