I'm 29, I am a child of the 20th century, my childhood was happy mostly stress free, apart from the odd bully. i did not have a computer, mobile/cell phone nor any other gadgets that kids have to day.

My question is do the kids of the 21st century with all their gadgets computers, phones and other stuff, have happier less stress free lives or have they lost out on their childhoods?

Has technology destroyed childhood?

Like you I'm a child of the 20th century and yep fully agree kids have definitely got a shorter childhood due to the destruction caused by technology and media. They've become exposed to things way too young and are out of their depth of how to deal with simple problems half the time. They don't have the basic fundamental self-learning past generations have had therefore how can they be expected to cope with stress at such a young age. There was nothing better than going out free as a lark to explore as long as you were back by 6pm however kids can do it from their bedrooms at the computer these days so whats the point of actually having to make the effort to actually go outside!!

im 15 so i guess u would say im from the 21 century idk any of that stuff lol but i can say my life is deff NOT stress free. it might be easyer in someways but not in the reallity of life its self. no matter if we have flying cars or w/e in the next century life will stil be life there stil lwill be pain and hurt and lost of loved ones so really technology is just something liek a toy to occupy you for the time being nothing reall more or less its just what it is.

People have been asking this question for over 100 years. When I was little, we could play outside all day long with no worries about perverts or traffic. The television finished at 6pm so we could all go to bed, and we had compulsory sport.

It is called nostalgia.

I think kids today are not happy with what they got, always need to have the next best thing, i wouldn't change my childhood for todays but would a youngster say any different.

Kids are not as physically aggressive, nor hardcore as 20th century youths...
