General Con. ideals dictate that the gov't should be less involved in our affairs not more, and Cons always accuse Libs of being too pro-gov't, so how is it that you support sanctions and laws against gays marrying and women having abortions?
Aren't these moral issues and not political ones?
Isn't this contradictory to Conservative Ideals? Why or why not?

I am a conservative.
I do NOT support sanctions and laws against gays marrying and women having abortions.
They are definently moral AND political issues.
The reason it is a political issue is the fear of change and the fear that someones morals are not going to be the same. If it was just a moral issue there would be no laws abridging the issues.

What you are looking at is the Republican party platform. There are real conservatives out here and we want real change.

Because of Georgia. The federal court down there over turned the states gay marriage ban and thus it went from a state issue to a national.

Prior to that case the stance was let the states decide what they want. The activist decided that they wanted it to be a national issue and unfortunately for them a majority of Americans don't like the idea. The activist pushed for these votes that have led to the ban in a lot of states as well. The real question is civil unions were the compromise, why wasn't at good enough?

The conservative mind set is usually geared toward less govt intrusion in ppls affairs. It is based on Judeo /Christian based law in most respects unlike liberals who don't believe in law but in rules that only benefit themselves. Since it is a moral issue and law is based on morals and getting ppl to maintain a moral order your argument is specious at best. It is the liberals who are turning things inside out by trying to push this relative morals junk on the sane ppl of the world. Why do you think there are more suicides and depression being treated now than ever before? Most want a stable environment to live in such as marriage and the like but with relativism there is nothing that is black or white, right or wrong. It is all in the eyes of the beholder and not subject to a standard set of values.

there are genuine conservatives out there, but recently there has been a push by certain groups inside of the Republican party pushing for control of it...the issues of a true Conservative are being tainted with major directional changes that are being created to combat their perception that they must be proactive in order to "hold the line" against liberal ideals.....as time goes by the very ideals of conservative/liberal may change as the needs of society and the world demand...take environmentalism and the issue of global warming: it may become a conservative issue to protect this planet we live on and wild irresponsible activism to suppose that it's quite alright to destroy the planet for profit

I see baby killing as a legal, moral and spiritual issue. Marriage is for men and women, what gays do is called something else. I don't see any contradictions here just bad behavior and confused people.

Conservative thinking is not based on any consistent set of principles but on an ad hoc collection of their likes and dislikes. For example, they're opposed to government regulation of business in general, but would want to censor the adult film business, which is a successful business that satisfies a consumer demand in the free market. The examples can go on and on. Theur libertarian talk is mainly something to get votes with.

Laws should echo the morals of a society.

as far the "gays" go, its an immoral act because the bible says it is. Conservatives are typically very christian and they stand for responsibility and accountablity. A person having an abortion is niether responsible or accountable for their actions.

Dealing with people who murder innocent unborn children and perverts who try to destroy our society by claiming the sacred vows of holy matrimony as their own are a natural part of Conservative ideals. Why do you try to defend such perverted actions by claiming they're not political? That's ********. Defending the defenseless and protecting the natural way of life is the business of all normal citizens.

The people have to decide what our morals are also. Conservatives are speaking out on these issues because they represent amorality, none. But as far as wanting to be in people's lifes, they do not want to be.
