It is caused by a Chemical Imbalance in our
Atmosphere. There is too much Carbon Dioxide
in the Air, and too little Oxygen.
it is fine to try to stop the CO2 emissions from autos
getting into our Atmosphere, but it doesn't put Oxygen back into the air.
Forests are being Clear Cut, and also burned which
has probably caused much, if not all, of the imbalance
of CO2 and Oxygen. Trees absorb Carbon Dioxide
and emit Oxygen, which naturally balances the Chemicals in our Atmosphere.
The World of Nations should be Replanting trees in Forests all over the world. This may correct the problem,
or at least slow it down enough to get to a better
solution.

To answer your question "What is causing global warming?"
Mostly the earth and sun
"Can we stop it?"
No
The heating and cooling of the earth happen in cycles over millions of years. For example, 40,000 years ago, most of America was covered in snow and ice. Millions of year before that, Canada may have been tropically warm. These are natural cycles and much of the warming and cooling are caused by things we can do nothing about such as volcanos and solar activity. Please note in the whole question of "climate change" there is never proof of the percentage of the "warming" which is caused by human activity. If man were responsible for even 1% of the change I would be very surprised. I have attached some very detailed analysis; note over 19,000 scientists signed the second document.

Sigh...I have personally answered this question dozens of time...see the other answers.
Greenhouse gases (GHGs) are gaseous components of the atmosphere that contribute to the "greenhouse effect". Although uncertainty exists about exactly how earth's climate responds to these gases, global temperatures are rising. [1] Some greenhouse gases occur naturally in the atmosphere, while others result from human activities. Naturally occurring greenhouse gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. Certain human activities, however, add to the levels of most of these naturally occurring gases. [2]

Mr sun and Ms earth are causing global environmental changes and there is nothing we can do about it. Nor is it likely that the changes will be so serious as to warrant interstellar, interplanetary or even global migrations.
Human contributions to global environmental change are sub-microscopic in scale at most.
What we are able to do is adapt to changes should they come.
From near-global tropical jungle to near-global arctic conditions humans have adapted and survived.
We should not be so concerned about keeping our cities from being inundated if or when changes eventually should come as we need be concerned about where to move to if they do - hundreds of years in the future, maybe.
If you need to worry, worry about asteroids or comets impacting earth.
As for natural gas...there's plenty. As well as BS.

Global warming? My opinion only here, But I believe that the biggest reason for this global warming is ALL the ROCKETS that are being launched into space by NASA and the other countries sending them up.

Global Warming began before man. If it were not for global warming we would still be in the ice age.

An inconvenient truth is out on dvd now. It has everything you need to know about global warming. Everyone should watch it.
