Q: What does PSP Dumper and Decrypter do? Is it a game?
A: PSP dumper and decrypter allows you to dump the PSP firmware to a file and then decrypt it for viewing and/or use. It is not a game. it is a utility.

Q: Why would I want to dump and decrypt the firmware?
A: Dumper and decrypter is useful if you need to use the firmware in some other type of application (like emulation). Under normal conditions, dumping the PSP firmware is not useful for the average user. However, if you're a developer and you know how to write emulators, you could use the dumped PSP firmware to create a software emulator to run a virtual PSP on your computer. Apparently, there is software called DevHook that does this (but only up to a certain firmware version <2.8).

Q: Why does it turn my PSP off?
A: I can't answer this question as I have had no need to dump my firmware. It's possible that there's not enough space on your memory stick to dump the firmware. It could also be that you're using an old version of Dumper and Decrypter and it doesn't work with the firmware version you are running. However, unless you plan on doing something with the extracted firmware, this application is not that useful.
