If a gay married couple were to move in to my neighborhood, next door to my house, it would be the end of my marriage.
My marriage is that fragile.
really.
And my box turtle is terrified!

I don't feel particularly strong one way or the other concerning this issue, but as I see it......
If two gays unite in a civil union - with all of the rights and privileges of a "marriage" - very few people would be upset, offended or affected. The whole issue would become moot and we could all go back to discussing the really important issues that face our great nation.
With this in mind, why does the gay community insist on gay "marriage?" - a simple argument of semantics that just stirs up controversy? It seems to be an attempt to just stir up more bigotry and division on the issue - and that's just not the way to win over support and acceptance from the community as a whole.
Most municipalities and states have offered compromised bills to provide equal rights to gay unions - but there seems to be no compromise from the other side. The term "marriage" seems to be the real issue here, and not the actual lifestyle - and that's just ridiculous.

Great question. I keep waiting to hear about that one couple whose marriage was so denigrated by a gay couple marrying that they got divorced. Or one straight couple who decided they couldn't get married now because Suzy and Jane got hitched in MA. After all, Suzy and Jane just destroyed the sacred institution right? Now it's obviously just for liberals and gays. Those far right wingers stopped applying for marriage licenses right? Oh, they didn't? Imagine that.

It doesn't hurt me at all. It might hurt the feelings of some of the two gays' other suitors, and maybe some in their families who have not come to terms with reality, but anyone else who claims a hurt from it is an idiot.

It doesn't hurt me and I do know they are getting married. In any civilized society, adults could make a life partnership commitment that was legally recognized for their mutual benefit with out anyone of any religion telling them they did not have this civil right because of the way they were born. I mean, come on.

If two gays get married and you know about it, how does that hurt you? You're not marrying the same sex, so who gives a crap about other marriages anyway?

It doesn't hurt me unless they are my friends and didn't invite me. I think any 2 consenting adults should be allowed to marry in peace. Homosexual marriage does not affect the sanctity of heterosexual marriage in any way, shape or form.

No more than if my nextdoor neighbors were into S&M and I didn't know about it. Or even if I did know about it.
In other words, not at all.
How people live their lives is up to them. I'm not so arrogant, self-righteous, or egotistical to pressume that I have the right to tell others how to live.

It doesnt, and I dont want to know about it, as long as gays dont mince about holding hands (or whatever) in public I couldnt care less.
Same as Christians or any religious group, just keep it out of my face, and go in peace.
