Christmas 'season' starts for the retail stores the day after Thanksgiving. Its the bandwagon for sales and buying frenzy.

For Christians Advent begins December 3rd and then we celebrate Christmas 12 days afterwards ending with the gospel of the Magi visiting the Holy Family at Bethlehem on our about the 6th of January.

From the looks of most stores, the Christmas season starts before Halloween. Every store I went to had Christmas decorations and supplies out on the shelves in the middle of October. Personally I don't even start to think about preparing for Christmas until after Thanksgiving when our family (the adults) draw names for our Christmas party.

I think we start Christmas actually the Day after Thanksgiving because it's a month before Christmas and gives you time to buy Christmas gifts and things to have Christmas. We started wrapping gifts last week and still getting gifts.

I like to start right after Thanksgiving because I love to have the house decorated for as long as possible. Because to me the season is for loving sharing, giving and praising Jesus. It should be all year round if you really want to know :O)

Christmas is recognized at this time because early Christians, used the date of "Pagan" tree festival to celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus. When in all actuality Jesus was probably born in the spring sometime due to the clues in the bible...basically a Christian way to overthrow a Pagan ritual.
